CCC (Campus Crusade for Christ)

In 1951 Bill and Vonette Bright founded Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of California Los Angeles. For within the college ranks they saw the leaders of the future and the unlimited potential possessed by these students to win the world for Jesus Christ. They sought to glorify God by helping to fulfill the Great Commission in this generation, in the power of the Holy Spirit, by "Winning, Building, Training and Sending" college students. The Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:18-20 reads:

KCCC ( Korea Campus Crusade for Christ)

A young man named Joon Gon Kim was studying in California when he met Bill Bright and caught the vision of Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). After returning to Korea, Rev. Joon Gon Kim founded Korea CCC in 1958, establishing the first overseas branch of CCC. In effect, Dr. Kim was the first to put "International" into CCC International. The Korea ministry now has over 1,000 full-time staff, hundreds more all over the world, and Christian movements on almost every college in South Korea.

KCCC in America

In the 70s as Korea CCC staff and alumni traveled to America, they saw the need on U.S. college campuses to reach the unique cross-cultural group of Korean-American and Korean-International students. Small pockets of Bible studies began taking place in various campuses. In 1982, Yong Won Kang officially established "KCCC in America" as a non-profit in the NY Metropolitan area foreseeing a growing ethnic ministry. Around this time, an explosion of Korean immigrants were coming to America in record numbers. In the late 80s and early 90s, "KCCC in America" hosted conferences attended by thousands of college students (primarily Korean-American) in the Northeast. These Christian conferences were the largest of its kind at that time. But with few to no full-time staff, the ministry struggled to sustain or nurture campus movements born out of these conferences.

In 1996, Dong Whan Kim (a Korea CCC staff) arrived thousands of miles away in LA sharing in the vision to reach Korean-Americans. Although there were campus movements in California, they also were difficult to sustain. The following year, Dong Whan Kim opened up LA GCTC, a new training center targeting Korean-American graduates and challenging them to serve on staff with "KCCC in America". Each year, college graduates have enthusiastically taken GCTC, going on to serve in LA, NY, Toronto, Chicago, and even into the overseas missions field where cross-cultural training is vital. With a growing team of well trained full-time and associate staff, "KCCC in America" has since witnessed a new generation of college students being raised up to live Christ-centered lives on their campuses, in their workplace, and into the world!
